Summary: Each year, the iCORE Summit explores how local and international research expertise in informatics and related areas can contribute to new collaborative explorations and research in Alberta.
This year the Summit will include guest speakers, who are leaders in their fields, speaking on topics such as applied cryptography, network security, online fraud, quantum cryptography, and privacy.
In addition, iCORE Chairs and their team members will give research presentations and will offer opportunities to learn about the valuable research conducted by iCORE Chairs.
Speakers: Speakers include Bart Preneel from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium; Virgil Gligor from Carnegie Mellon University; Markus Jakobsson, a Principal Scientist at Palo Alto Research Center; Richard J. Hughes, a Laboratory Fellow in the Physics Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory; Fred Carter, Senior Policy and Technology Advisor for the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario; Sir Peter Knight, Senior Principal at Imperial College, London; and Canadian science journalist, author and broadcaster, Jay Ingram.
Venue: Located in scenic Banff National Park at the attractive and functional Banff Centre, iCORE continues its partnership with the Banff Centre to foster a critical mass of researchers and thinkers in a productive environment.
