Chair receives honorary professorship
in China
Professor
G. Lachapelle, CRC/iCORE Chair in Wireless
Location and Head of the Department of
Geomatics Engineering at the Univesrity
of Calgary has been conferred an Honorary
Professorship from the University of Wuhan,
Peoples Republic of China. The University
of Wuhan, established in 1893, is a key
university of the People's Republic of
China with an enrolment of 43,000 students.
In
awarding the status of Honorary Professor
to Dr. Lachapelle, the University of Wuhun
cited his pionneering contributions and
numerous outstanding achievements in the
area of satellite-based positioning and
navigation during the past 25 years. His
sustained involvement in graduate education
and in related professional and scientific
societies was also cited.
The
award was made at a formal ceremony that
took place at the University of Wuhan
on November 8.
